Greece Choral Society [...]

Filed under: Group Description.The Greece Choral Society was organized in 1970 under the direction of Ralph Zecchino as part of Greece Continuing Education and GPAS, the Greece Performing Arts Society. Three years later, his wife, Sandy, took over the accompanist’s duties and has done so ever since.
Over 100 singers gather together on Monday evenings at Greece Athena High School, to rehearse classical , light classics, sacred music, folk music, Broadway, pops, and major works with orchestra. They perform several times a year : an annual Christmas concert with the Greece Symphony Orchestra, an annual Winter Broadway/Pops concert, a Spring concert, and two outdoor concerts in the summer: the Wegman’s “Concerts By The Shore” at Ontario Beach Park, the Greece Supervisor’s Summer Series, at the Greece Town Hall.
The Choral Society has performed in two concert tours of Europe, as well as Washington D.C., and various venues throughout New York State. They have performed with the Rochester Philharmonic, the Rochester Philharmonic Pops Orchestra, Geneseo College Symphony Orchestra, the Buffalo Youth Philharmonic and the Greece Symphony Orchestra.
Auditions are held twice a year, in September and January. Upon acceptance into the group, new members pay a Registration Fee of $15 to Greece Continuing Education and a $35 membership fee to GPAS. Music is provided at no extra cost.
