- Notes: The ROS presents “Rochester Sings!” with Gibbs & Main, Karine Stone, Artistic Director, and the Genesee Community Charter School Join us as we restore and celebrate the values that make our city great as we re-create the centennial of Rochester’s weekly Friday Sings. These popular civic events promoted tolerance, understanding, community spirit and constructive enjoyment through voices lifted in song. The last such event was June 7, 1912, with selections from the Rochester Songbook. It’s a joy to rediscover these long-familiar favorites, moving anthems, period pieces by Stephen Foster and others, and patriotic selections that catch the heart. While we celebrate the historic event, Gibbs & Main help us look forward to the fresh music of tomorrow with the world-premiere of Lulu, by Rochester’s own Diego Garcia. Celebrate the very best qualities of the city we love with the best artists our musical city has to offer. Get your own Rochester Songbook, log in to the special web presence for Rochester Sings!, sing along and let us hear your voice for the better. For tickets, call the ROS office at (585) 473-2234 or purchase on line at ROSsings.org.
