Musica Spei Summer Sings

This is our final sing for the summer of 2019. Musica Spei holds summer sings for anyone interested in reading and singing sacred Renaissance music. Participants sing a variety of pieces by various Renaissance composers in 4-6 part polyphony. Participants wanting to audition for Musica Spei in the fall are strongly encouraged to attend at least one summer sing to meet members of the group.

Since its inception, Musica Spei holds annual summer sings for 6 weeks starting on Wednesday evenings in July.  These sings provide an opportunity for choral singers to sight read and experience sacred Renaissance music in a small, intimate setting.  Led by members of Musica Spei, each sing consists of a variety of pieces by various composers such as Palestrina, Josquin, Dufay, Gesualdo, Lassus, and others.  Depending on the size of the group, singers will sing in 4-6 part polyphony in various languages including Latin, German, Italian, and English.  Singers interested in auditioning with Musica Spei in the fall are strongly encouraged to attend at least one summer sing to meet members of the group as well as gain familiarity with the music that Musica Spei typically performs.
