Pegasus Early Music invites you to discover the beautifully expressive music of John Dowland, one of England’s greatest composers, in a special February festival marking 400 years since his death. Dowland’s songs range from gentle and joyful to deeply moving, with melodies that still feel surprisingly familiar today. The festival includes Songs Old & New, featuring voices, lutes, and viola da gamba, alongside newly commissioned works by Jonathan Woody that place modern music in conversation with Dowland’s timeless songs. Join us later in February as the festival continues for a spellbinding recital by world-renowned lutenist Paul O’Dette.

Pegasus Early Music

Pegasus presents an annual series of concerts by world-class performing artists. Our concerts encompass over 400 years of music – from medieval to romantic – played on period instruments, often using vocalists. Pegasus Early Music delivers music of the past with expressive relevance today. We also provide opportunities for young emerging early musicians, as well as internships through the Eastman Arts Leadership Program. We collaborate with ensembles and organizations around upstate New York.
