Dowland Mini-Festival: Paul O'Dette, lute

Dowland Mini-Festival Part 2: Paul O'Dette, lute
Commemorating the 400th anniversary of the death of John Dowland in February 1626:
The many moods of Dowland, merry to melancholic, played by our local world-renowned lute maestro.

Pegasus Early Music invites you to discover the beautifully expressive music of John Dowland, one of England’s greatest composers, in a special February festival marking 400 years since his death. The second concert presents lutenist Paul O'Dette in a special solo recital of Dowland's virtuosic and spell-binding music. Paul O’Dette is one of the most influential figures in early music today, hailed by the Toronto Globe and Mail as “the clearest case of genius ever to touch his instrument.” A renowned lutenist, conductor, and scholar, he has made more than 155 recordings, earned two Grammys, and performs worldwide. O’Dette is Artistic Co-Director of the Boston Early Music Festival and Professor of Lute at the Eastman School of Music.

We also provide opportunities for young emerging early musicians, as well as internships through the Eastman Arts Leadership Program. We collaborate with ensembles and organizations around upstate New York.
